The Department of Strategic Management (SGM) is home to four areas of study: Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, Consulting, and International Business. The skills students master while studying these disciplines are universally applicable in the business world and create innovative, strategic, and forward-thinking employees equipped to add value to organizations in any field.
Undergraduate students can major in Entrepreneurship or International Business, and minor in Entrepreneurship, International Business, or Consulting. Graduate students can earn their Master of Science in Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship (IME), earn their MBA with a concentration in Strategic Management, or earn a dual MBA/IME degree. Graduate students can also take elective courses in International Business and Consulting. PhD students can specialize in Strategic Management.

Through these programs, students learn how to be more creative, to recognize opportunities and generate innovations in all their forms, and to understand the ecosystems and value chains of industries in order to envision new ventures or product ideas. Students acquire the knowledge and tools necessary to launch and manage their own business or successfully propose new ideas and change initiatives in any organization.

SGM’s IB program provides an education experience designed to equip students with the knowledge and global perspectives required to thrive in the global workforce of the twenty-first century.
The SGM Consulting program is designed to benefit students by giving the tools needed to apply the functional disciplines of their respective majors to the field of consulting, thereby increasing employment opportunities beyond a single industry or function.
Concentrations in Strategic Management at the graduate and PhD level include coursework that intersects the areas of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, International Business, Consulting and Strategy. This interdisciplinary approach prepares students for careers that transcend boundaries between business industries and academic fields of study as they pursue corporate jobs or university research and teaching positions.
