Join The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in our three-session webinar training to learn the necessary steps to start a home-based daycare enterprise. “Starting small” provides the opportunity to test the waters to make sure that caring for others’ children is the “right fit” – while capitalizing on existing resources. Each session builds upon the previous one for a smooth transition to this exciting profession.

Planned topics include: Session 1 – A discussion of the basics of starting a business, tailored toward child care. An experienced SBDC consultant will provide an overview of start-up basics, legal and insurance considerations, goal setting and business plan development, accounting, and budget skills, effective marketing and social media, as well as financing options and requirements.

Session 2 – A representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services will provide a walkthrough of the regulatory aspects for a licensed home-based daycare, including building code compliance, background checks, training needed, and a description of the child care subsidy program.

Session 3 – State Extension will map out the day-to-day operations of a daycare business, as well as provide timely information about social distancing and health/safety plans for children and their families. The series will be delivered by Zoom webinars:
Session 1 on Wednesday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m.
Session 2 on Wednesday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m.
Session 3 on Wednesday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m.
