The Fox School of Business utilizes an online application process. Start and complete your application at your own pace through our Application Portal. Because we have a rolling admissions process, we encourage you to apply as early as possible while space is available in the program.

Admissions Criteria

The Master of Science in Financial Analysis and Quantitative Risk Management requires a strong record of achievement in quantitative coursework that includes multivariate calculus, economics, statistics, accounting, and finance.

Prerequisites

  • Calculus – at least one course in multivariate calculus covering topics of vectors in two or three dimensions, lines and planes in space, parametric equations, vector functions and their derivatives, functions of several variables, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, line integrals, and Green’s Theorem, Divergence Theorem, and Stoke’s Theorem.
    • Equivalent at the Fox School: Mathematics 2043 Calculus III.
  • Economics – at least two introductory courses in macroeconomics (covering business cycles, inflation, unemployment, banking, monetary and fiscal policy, international economics, and economic growth) and microeconomics (covering yhe market system, supply and demand, cost, competition, monopoly, oligopoly, factor markets, and public goods).
    • Equivalents at the Fox School: Economics 1101 Macroeconomic Principles, Economics 1102 Microeconomic Principles.
  • Statistics – at least one course that covers basic descriptive statistics, probability, and statistical inference (topics should include probability distributions, random sampling and sampling distributions, point and interval estimation, and hypothesis testing).
    • Equivalent at the Fox School: Statistics 2103 Business Statistics.
  • Accounting – at least one course that covers the basic concepts and principles underlying the preparation and use of financial statements (topics should include basic accounting theory, transactional analysis, income determination, asset and liability valuation, and the preparation of financial statements).
    • Equivalent at the Fox School: Accounting 2101 Financial Accounting.
  • Finance – at least one course that covers topics including the structure of financial markets and role of financial intermediation, time value of money, structure and pricing of fixed income securities, risk and return across asset classes in capital markets, diversification and asset allocation in investment portfolios, introduction to derivatives instruments and their use in hedging risk in financial markets, and how foreign exchange risk affects fixed income and equity returns.
    • Equivalent at the Fox School: FIN 3502 Corporate Finance I.
  • Application Checklist

    • Completed application. Applications may be completed through our online Application Portal.

    • Current professional resume.

    • Nonrefundable $60 USD application fee, payable by credit card as part of the online application process.

    • Transcripts from every credit-bearing post-secondary academic institution attended. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted during the application review process; sealed and certified official transcripts or mark sheets in English will be required upon admission and enrollment. Electronic transcripts submitted directly from the institution to our admissions office are considered sealed and certified. International applicants: see details about international transcript requirements.

    • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test scores, taken within the last five years. Official test scores from the test provider will need to be submitted upon admission and enrollment.

    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores for non-native English speakers, unless degree is from an English language university located in a native English language country.

    • Two letters of recommendation. Contact information for references may be submitted through the online Application Portal; references may then complete our electronic form or upload their own letters of recommendation.
