Biography

Christina M. Owings is an Associate Professor of Practice at the Fox School of Business in the Marketing department. In 2012, she consulted with the Business Communications Center as a Business English Communications Specialist - providing support for undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students. In 2015, she joined our faculty to teach Business Communications to undergraduate students. She continues to support our students as the Director of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Support with ongoing coaching and workshops. Christina also leads the Fox PhD Teaching Academy and the PhD Job Market Readiness series. She has completed an International Educator’s Academy diploma, serves a two-year appointment (2024-2026) on the General Education Executive Committee, and contributes to the University Research Communication Committee in its facilitation of Temple’s 3 Minute Thesis competitions.

As the principal and lead consultant of her firm, she delivered custom-designed Business English instruction to executives from Fortune 500 companies. During these 15 years, she provided communication training for a variety of industries and non-profit organizations and also worked in video and film production. Her previous academic appointments include Montgomery County Community College, Saint Joseph’s University, Harcum College, and Cedar Crest College.

Christina holds a Bachelor of the Arts in Media and Communications from Temple University and Master of Education, and an Advanced Professional Certificate in TESOL from Lesley University. Her commitment to professional development and her students later inspired her to earn a Master of Science in Communication Management and graduate certificates in Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution, and Leadership and Cross-cultural Communication from Temple’s Klein College of Media and Communication. She pursues doctoral work at the University of Aveiro in Portugal and her current research includes designing and validating eLearning oral communication training frameworks for diverse managers using participatory video and/or storytelling
