Mission Statement  

The Fox Graduate Mentorship Program strives to foster students’ professional self-awareness and growth under the supportive guidance of an experienced Fox mentor. Through continuous engagement and reflection with their mentor, students become confident in effectively articulating their skillsets and professional endeavors while developing viable pathways towards those goals based on current business trends. By the end of the program, students will be able to confidently discuss their professional strengths and feel confident in their growth potential.

How the Program Works

Do you ever find yourself feeling anxious or unsure when thinking about your place in your career plans or the trajectory of your professional future 5-10 years from now? Do you sometimes find it challenging to articulate your professional skillset or how you see yourself growing in your current field? Perhaps you have thought that talking through these issues with an experienced mentor would help you make sense of your professional endeavors.  

Look no further! The Fox School of Business recognizes the value and influence that mentors can bring to current students and is pleased to share the Fox Graduate Mentorship Program with driven graduate students such as yourself!  

The mentorship program seeks graduate students who are committed to working with accomplished Fox alumni to explore and refine career goals and ideas, improve relevant professional skills, and navigate through general obstacles to their professional growth.  

This unique partnership affords you an invaluable opportunity to better understand yourself professionally and align your aspirations with the realities and opportunities of the business world under the supportive guidance of a Fox mentor.

A vision of what mentees gain in the program

  • A guide who will share professional experiences to help you develop a path towards your professional aspirations and career endeavors.  
  • A coaching partner who will help you stay on course to your professional goals and motivated in developing a realistic path towards accomplishing those goals.  
  • A sounding board who will patiently listen to your professional goals, ideas, and projects without judgement, offer guidance on their viability, and facilitate a path with you on moving forward.  
  • A connector who is open to sharing relevant components of their professional network with you and guiding you to the possible people regarding career growth.

Timeline

January 2026 Joint Orientation with Mentors and Mentees, Monthly meetings throughout the course of the year. Program wraps in December 2026  

Mentees & Mentors

Be a Mentee

Mentee Qualifications 

  • Complete at least one semester of your Graduate program and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25. 
  • Time commitment – Mentees should meet with their mentor at least once a month, over the course of the one-year program 
  • Articulate a clear interest and commitment in working with a mentor on the program admission form.  
  • Describe how a mentor can help you grow to career development in wanting to grow your professional network.   
  • Show enthusiasm towards the opportunity to develop your networking and communications skills.  

 

Mentee Expectations and Responsibilities 

  • Commit to fulfilling your responsibilities in the program, including contacting your mentor a minimum of once per month and attending all required orientation and training workshops.  

  • Actively participate in all program activities, including meetings, orientations, and events.   

  • Maintain an openness to your mentor’s guidance and feedback.   

  • Work with your mentor to set achievable academic and professional goals.   

  • Provide feedback on the program and your mentoring experience to help us improve.   

  • Respect the confidentiality of the mentor-mentee relationship and any sensitive information shared during the program.   

Be a Mentor

Mentor Qualifications

  • Eligible coaches will have the ability to substantively invest in student outcomes in the following areas:  

  • Network – Mentors should be open to sharing their network with students if appropriate and comfortable. 

  • Business Acumen/Experience – Mentors should have a work history rich in high-level experience.    

  • Commitment to mentoring – Mentors should be willing to invest time and energy in the student’s development and provide constructive feedback. 

 

Mentor Expectations and Responsibilities

  • Time commitment – Mentors should meet with their mentee at least once a month, over the course of the one-year program  

  • Use a non-directive approach to coaching. 

  • Ask open-ended questions. Refrain from talking at them. 

  • Be patient and supportive of students. Withhold judgement and criticism.  

  • Communicate in ways that spark insights within students. Avoid providing specific answers.  

  • Carefully crafted conversations (3Cs) will produce “aha” moments within students.
