The Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) adheres to NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) standards. Adherence to these guidelines will support the collaborative effort of career planning, placement, and recruitment professionals while reducing the potential for abuses. The guidelines also apply to new technology or third-party recruiting relationships which may be substituted for the traditional personal interaction among career services professionals, employer professionals, and students.

Offer Management

Whether your organization is interviewing on campus or off campus, our Fox students are excited to have the opportunity to explore internships and post graduate experiences with your company. The CSPD employer partnerships team is here to provide guidance throughout the interview and offer management process. CSPD adheres to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) policies and guidelines when it comes to offer management.  Please review the NACE guidelines.

  • All job and internship listings are posted at the discretion of the CSPD Staff.  We reserve the right to choose to not post a position if it does not appear to support the best interests of students and/or the University. 
  • The CSPD serves the entire Fox School undergraduate and graduate student population. 
  • CSPD will not post positions that appear to discriminate against applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, age, national origin, disabled or Vietnam Era veteran status, sexual orientation, disability, or gender. 
  • CSPD does not post positions that require an investment of cash or other purchases by the prospective employee. The only exception to this will be necessary and appropriate licensing/exam fees. 
  • We do not post anonymous ads or positions submitted by third party recruiters who do not identify themselves as such in their job announcements or who do not provide us with client contact information if requested. 
  • CSPD does not post positions where the student would work out of a private residence.  Location of job opportunity (internship and full-time) should be at the employer’s non-residential office location unless it is a virtual work arrangement. 
  • Full-time, permanent job postings must be for salaried or hourly positions.  If a combination salaried/commission structure exists, details must be included in the compensation section of the posting.
  • CSPD does not provide a referral service and makes no guarantee that all jobs posted will be filled. 
  • CSPD does allow employers to post unpaid internships, however we encourage you to review the Department of Labor standards to ensure the opportunity you are recruiting for qualifies as an unpaid experience 
Fox CSPD Career Fair and Event Policies

The Fox School of Business CSPD reserves the right to cancel or deny registration to any school event: 

  • If the employer is recruiting for opportunities that do not meet NACE standards, 
  • If the opportunity does not require a business degree to start full-time, 
  • If the specific opportunity or nature/status of the company suggests that it is inappropriate for or does not align with our service population, 
  • Or for any reason at the discretion of the Center for Student Professional Development office. 
  • It is important that employers and students maintain an open line of communication throughout the internship search and full-time job offer and decision process. Extending an offer to a student represents a significant commitment between an employer and a student. To ensure fairness to both, the CSPD offers the following guidelines:
    • Employers should notify candidates of their status if, after a second interview, the student is not selected for further consideration once the selection process has been concluded. 
    • All internship and full-time employment offers should be documented via email and/or hard copy. The beginning of the offer period coincides with the date of the offer letter. 
    • First-year students should be given at least three weeks to consider an internship offer. 
    • Summer interns often receive a post-MBA full-time offer from the internship employer prior to the official start of the second year. Unless an alternative arrangement is agreed to by student and prospective employer, it is recommended that summer interns not be prohibited from pursuing other opportunities and be given up to four weeks after the official offer letter date, or “as long as possible” to consider offers, unless an alternative arrangement is agreed to by both parties. 
Exploding Offers

Extending an exploding offer, defined as giving a candidate an unreasonably short period of time to accept an offer before it is revoked, is prohibited. It is not uncommon for companies to offer financial incentives for an early decision, especially for full-time offers, but as long as the timelines are honored, this is not considered an exploding offer. If a student is taking an unreasonably long period of time to respond to an offer, please contact the CSPD so we may address the issue with the student. 

Withdrawing an Offer

Withdrawing an offer can significantly harm the future ability to recruit students. If an employer must withdraw an offer, the employer should contact the CSPD. At the Fox School, we consider reneging on an accepted offer to be unethical. If a student reneges on an acceptance of employment, the employer should notify the CSPD. Our staff will thoroughly review the situation and take appropriate action. 

Unpaid Employment

While posting in Handshake, please describe how your unpaid internship meets the criteria noted on the Department of Labor’s website. Please note that the Temple University thoroughly vets employer registrations as well as job postings to ensure compliance.
