This fall, the Department of Accounting welcomed two new faculty, Enrique Gomez and Sherry Williams to the Fox School. “I am delighted to welcome Enrique and Sherry to the accounting faculty,” says Elizabeth Gordon, chair of the department. “With their expertise, they significantly add to the depth and breadth of our faculty.”

Sherry Williams, DBA ’19, joins the Fox School with extensive experience in the financial services industry. She has held roles as an audit and risk management executive for organizations including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, the State of Georgia and SunTrust Bank. 

Outside of the classroom, Williams devotes her time to community service activities. She enjoys teaching financial management with Junior Achievement, an educational non-profit; resume development and interview skills with Streetwise Partners, a mentorship program; assisting patient services at a local hospital; and educational support to students in Kenya.  

Williams currently teaches financial and managerial accounting courses at the Fox School. She is also interested in internal controls, enterprise risk management and information technology auditing.

Williams earned her Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Fox, writing her dissertation on the factors that drive consumer selection of a financial services institution. She received an MBA from Kennesaw State University and a BS in accounting from Central Connecticut State University.

Enrique Gomez

Enrique Gomez joins the Fox School as an assistant professor in the Department of Accounting, from the University of Georgia. Gomez’s research interests include asymmetry in capital markets, voluntary disclosure decisions, role of information intermediaries and non-GAAP reportings. 

Throughout his career, he has received various academic honors, including a Deloitte Doctoral Fellowship Award, Ricky Rice Fellowship from University of Georgia and more. He is also an alumnus of the PhD Project.

Gomez is pleased to be joining Temple University. “Temple’s accounting department has many high quality researchers publishing in top accounting journals,” he says. “And I really like that at Temple, you work in a big city but you can live in a family friendly neighborhood.”

Gomez received his BS and MAcc from Brigham Young University and his PhD in business administration from the University of Georgia.
