Dr. Leila Bouamatou is currently the Managing Director of La Générale de Banque de Mauritanie, the first corporate and investment bank in Mauritania. She is the first woman to be appointed head of an investment bank in Mauritania, having previously worked at Deloitte in Tunisia, BMCE in London and Madrid, and GBM.
Dr. Leila Bouamatou earned her Bachelor's degree from the Business School Lausanne in Switzerland, a Master's degree in Finance and Audit from EADA Barcelona, an Executive MBA from the Mediterranean School of Business in Tunisia, and a DBA from Temple University in the USA.
She was featured in Forbes magazine as one of the 10 most talented and influential African leaders under the age of 40. In October 2022, she was ranked the second most influential African leader under 40 by the Choiseul Institute. Additionally, she was awarded the African Banker of the Year by Financial Afrik Awards. Dr. Bouamatou was also listed for the second consecutive time among the 100 Most Influential African Women in 2020 by Avance Media.
Dr. Leila Bouamatou serves on the boards of many regional and international companies and foundations.
