Deepak Nayak is a PhD candidate in the Management Department concentrating in Strategic Management. He studies value creation and capture by firms facing a variety of internal and external constraints focusing on topics such as international and interfirm mobility of strategic human capital, organizing for innovation, and alliance portfolio dynamics. Deepak has presented his research at leading annual and special conferences organized by the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, and Academy of International Business. His research has been awarded the Best Overall Conference Paper award by AIB US NE Chapter and been the finalist for the prestigious Best Annual Conference Paper Award by the Strategic Management Society.

Before joining the PhD program in 2018, Deepak worked for different companies in the Tata Group in the United States as well as in India and gained international exposure by leading M&A projects in Asia, Australia, Europe, US, and Brazil. He enjoys teaching and strives to include examples from his work experience and research to spark intellectual discussions in the classroom. Deepak received his graduate degree in management (MBA) from S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research and undergraduate degree in engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal in India.
