Charles B. (Charlie) Crawford, Jr., is Chairman & CEO of Hyperion Bank. A champion of community banking for 30+ years, in Sept. 2025 he completed his term as Board Chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB). Charlie joined Hyperion in August 2017 and in 2018 led a significant recapitalization. He and his team launched Hyperion Mortgage (2020), a joint venture licensed to lend in seven states. Hyperion Bank made the 2025 Inc. 5000, recognizing fastest-growing companies, based on the previous three years’ growth; it was the second consecutive year the bank made the prestigious list. Hyperion’s growth also led to its inclusion in the Philadelphia Business Journal's “Fast 50,” the region’s fastest-growing businesses for 2025, its sixth consecutive year on what was formerly the “Soaring 76.” Charlie was among the PBJ’s Most Admired CEOs for 2020.

He previously founded three thriving banks community banks. In 2016 Private Bank of Buckhead – one of the community banks founded & helmed by Charlie – was included in the Inc. 5000 (2016). He completed the successful merger of that bank and its mortgage division into a southern U.S. regional bank in 2017.

Charlie holds undergraduate degrees (B.A. in Economics & B.S. in Management) from the University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton School of Business and earned his MBA from Georgia State University. He is a graduate of the LSU School of Banking and Leadership Atlanta. Charlie serves on the Advisory Board for the Fischer-Shain Center for Financial Services in the Fox School of Business at Temple University. For the fifth academic year he is teaching Scaling a New Venture in Georgia State’s Entrepreneurship & Innovation Institute, part of the Robinson College of Business.

Charlie also is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and serves on the board of the Chief Executives Organization; in Nov. 2024 he completed his four-year term as International Finance Chair for CEO, transitioning to SVP. Nov. 1 (2025), he begins his term as Chair-elect of CEO, preparing to become Board Chair in 2026.

He serves as a director of McKenney’s, one of the country’s largest mechanical contractors, and in 2024 became a director of Profitmaster Displays, serving as Chairman. In addition to Hyperion Bank’s Board, Charlie serves on the board of Hyperion Mortgage. He has been honored with awards for Entrepreneurship and for his service on numerous nonprofit boards, including the J. Mack Robinson College of Business (Georgia State University), The Carter Presidential Center (Board of Councilors), the Georgia Tennis Foundation, the Atlanta History Center, the Buckhead Coalition (Treasurer) and the Atlanta Track Club (Chair).

Charlie enjoys both team and individual sports and is an avid runner. Fun fact: He once ran to the bank from home after a major snowstorm to ensure a bank customer had what they needed for a real estate closing, even though the bank was closed due to weather. Charlie and his wife Ansley have three adult children.
