Department/Center:

As ride-hailing services—such as Uber and Lyft—have grown in popularity over the last decade, people have been able to move farther away from mass transit hubs and center city districts.

Following this phenomenon, Amit Serusi, DBA ’22, directs his dissertation research to investigate how the prices of urban real estate have been affected by the growth of ride-hailing services.

Serusi found that ride-hailing services contributed to the spread and balance of real estate prices in urban areas, and especially for properties located on the periphery.

City planners and real estate developers are advised to consider how future transportation innovations will continue to impact the pricing of real estate in urban areas.
