All Courses
Business Analytics
This course introduces the foundations of the art and science of extracting information from data, and using that information to improve business decisions. You will also learn the fundamental concepts of data analysis (content), and improve your skills in analytical thinking and effective communication of information (process).
Visualization: The Art of Numbers
Learn techniques that will allow you to clearly, efficiently, and effectively communicate information through visual representations. Using examples and cases from a variety of industries, explore visualization types and purpose, principles of design and how to identify an audience and select the display for good visualization.
Statistical Learning and Data Mining
Gain an overview of the fundamental principles and techniques of data mining through real-world examples, cases, and hands-on opportunities, and discover how data analysis technologies can be used to improve decision-making and profitability.
Experiments: Knowledge by Design
Learn how to use experiments and a “test and learn” approach to answer questions such as what types of promotions are most effective, what products should be offered, which sales channels should be emphasized, and more.
Decision Models: Data to Profit
Find out how to build a decision model in Excel in order to characterize likely and unlikely outcomes, quantify risks, and identify inputs for a decision that is “high leverage” (i.e., with outcomes sensitive to those inputs), and explore how to make better decisions in the presence of uncertainty and deal with multistage decisions.
Data: Care Feeding and Cleaning
Learn tools and techniques used to clean raw data, extract subsets or samples, merge and combine datasets, and manipulating and transforming individual variables. This course provides extensive exposure to SQL, as well as appropriate procedures for ensuring data quality and reliability.
Advanced Business Analytics
Extend your understanding of the art and science of extracting information from data to increasingly complex and real-world data. In this course, you will practice drawing insight from models and effectively communicating that insight in a format that will assist in better decision-making processes.
Experiential Capstone
The course is designed as the capstone experience for the MS in Business Analytics program and, as such, synthesizes all of the learning from previous coursework in this program. Student groups are paired with firms and work as consultants to provide data analytic solutions. This will allow students a first-hand perspective on decision making by management and understanding the organizational implications.
