Temple University has prioritized the health and well-being of our community with a blend of in-person and virtual learning. For the fall 2021 semester, we are planning primarily in-person or hybrid courses with a substantial number of students returning to campus. We hope to return to a vibrant campus experience, with our residence halls, dining halls, student center and academic buildings, as well as our athletic and recreational facilities, open this fall. While the pandemic will still be with us, in an effort to support physical distancing, the university has reduced classroom capacities around campus and required some classes to be moved online or to a hybrid format. We are hopeful as vaccine distribution continues and we implement our robust on-campus testing program. An emphasis on four essential public health pillars will also continue. Parents and families can review information about the university’s return plan online.

The university continues to follow the guidelines and restrictions put in place through local, state and federal governments, as well as guidance issued by public health organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Fox School has a long history of providing quality online education and has utilized the expertise of the Fox Online and Digital Learning Department to update courses as necessary. All faculty members have completed online teaching certificates, equipping them with knowledge and skills needed to excel in an online environment. The Online and Digital Learning Department has also provided our students with resources and will offer training sessions to assist in the transition to online learning.

Student services such as the Center for Undergraduate Advising and the Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) are preparing to host online and in-person consultations as well as many virtual events. Additionally, on campus students will have access to a central information hub staffed by administrators from across the school to field questions and concerns. All student services offices will also be accessible virtually every weekday.

All students have access to Tuttleman Counseling Services and Student Health Services for support services and counseling. In addition, Wellness Resources Center provides information and guidance on stress management, resilience and self care. Students can also look into resources for personal success from the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership and Disability Resources and Services.

The Student Emergency Aid Fund or TUAP Fast Fund is available for students struggling with unanticipated financial needs. Temple University’s Cherry Pantry is also available for Temple students. The Hope Center has also created a useful resource guide, Beyond the Food Pantry.

Graduates of the Fox School of Business go on to have successful careers as responsible professionals and leaders in a variety of fields. A business degree provides students with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to pursue careers across a diverse range of industries. In addition to curriculum designed to prepare students for current and future industry needs, the Fox School offers students a variety of professional development services to ensure our graduates are career ready.

The Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) is a team of career coaches, professional development facilitators and employer relations professionals that exclusively serve Fox Business majors. Through the CSPD course (BA2101), workshops, networking events, resume reviews, practice interviews, online resources and one-on-one appointments, the CSPD helps students navigate their way into the workforce and fosters connections with employers.  

In addition to the workshops and career counselling services offered by the Center for Student Professional Development, all Fox Business majors are entitled to use the resources provided by the Temple University Career Center. 

Each major at the Fox School is represented by at least one Student Professional Organization (SPO). Fox SPOs connect students with peers, faculty, alumni and employers from specific professions and industries.  These organizations — many nationally recognized for excellence — provide networking events, leadership opportunities, industry awareness and mentoring to Fox students. 

The Center for Student Professional Development connects Fox students with internship and full-time job opportunities through a variety of recruitment activities. Annual business major-only career fairs, the Fox Fall and Spring Connections, attract a diverse group of employers to campus. Employer resume critiques, mock interviews, career workshops and industry panels offer students less formal ways to learn about organizations and network with potential employers, in person and now virtually. Employers continue to work closely with CSPD to find talented Fox students and graduates.

In addition to the career fairs and networking opportunities offered by the Center for Student Professional Development, all Fox Business majors are able to attend events (such as the Temple Part-Time Job Fair) hosted by the Temple University Career Center.

Handshake is Temple University’s recruitment and career management platform for both students and alumni. Handshake uses cutting-edge technology to help Fox students more easily connect with jobs, internships, event information and on-campus recruiting opportunities. 

 Many of the Fox School Student Professional Organizations (SPOs) host discipline-specific career networking events that lead to job and internships offers. Through relationships developed with industry guest speakers and alumni, Fox SPO members are connected with opportunities related to their major and target industry. 

You can encourage your student to meet with their academic advisor at least once a semester to ensure that they schedule appropriate classes for the current semester and are making progress toward graduation. Our advisors help students to understand degree requirements, make a full academic plan for the chosen degree, interpret college and university policies and procedures, and provide guidance to support your students academically. Students with specific needs may also want to contact Disability Resources and Services (DRS) about academic accommodations and modifications.

If your student is struggling with a course, you may encourage them to visit the instructor’s office hours to address his/her concerns and utilize the tutoring services offered at the Student Success Center. The Student Success Center offers a variety of academic support services, including study skills coaching, writing assistance and tutoring in some subjects. These services are free to all Temple students; please encourage your student to take advantage of the services to support their academic success. Additionally, departments at the Fox School offer peer tutoring for select courses. Students should ask their professors about options within Fox. 

The Fox School of Business offers over 30 different Student Professional Organizations (SPOs) for students to join that will provide a friendly environment to network, build relationships and develop soft skills. With each major being represented, they are the foundation of our professional development program. Students can connect with SPOs through departmental listservs, school events and more.

Temple University also offers more than 350 student organizations and campus programs that students may get involved in. These are a great way to meet other people, develop leadership skills and learn more about the world. 

Encourage your student to visit Student Activities online hub for student organizations, OwlConnect. 

Students can explore their major with Temple University’s Career Center or with Fox’s Center for Student Professional Development. The Career Center offers assessments and career exploration resources for all students. A career coach can help students assess their personal qualities, suggest additional resources, and guide them through the decision-making process. 

If Fox is not a good fit for your student, the Division of University Studies exists to help students explore academic options. The advisors in the Division of University Studies are dedicated to helping students explore thoughtfully and productively, declare a major that is right for them, and graduate on time. 

There are multiple paths for your student to join the University Honors and Fox Honors programs. University Honors is the honors program for the entire Temple community. Fox has the distinction of being the only school at Temple to have their own honors program, which means students admitted to both have the chance to graduate from two honors programs. Both University Honors and Fox Honors have specialized advisors for your student.

• Admitted students are automatically considered for University Honors admission at the time of application. All Fox students accepted to University Honors are then automatically considered for Fox Honors. Students are notified of their acceptance to Fox Honors on a rolling basis. All prospective and admitted students and families that want to visit with University Honors and Fox Honors for a day should fill out a request form.
• Admitted students who are admitted to University Honors but not Fox Honors are placed on the Fox Honors waitlist for their first semester. If students earn the required 3.7 GPA in their first semester, they are then automatically admitted to Fox Honors beginning their second semester. There is no further action or application needed for your student if they are placed on the waitlist. 
• Current Fox students who wish to join both Honors programs should fill out an application to University Honors. These applications are reviewed at the end of each semester. Advisors are available to help your student switch courses into honors once they are accepted.
• Current University Honors students who would like to switch into Fox will need to fill out a Change of Program request with Fox Advising. Your student will be directed to the Fox Honors advising team to complete this process.

Temple accepts many Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and GCE Advanced Level (A-level) exams for credit. A list of accepted credits and course equivalencies is available from the Office of Undergraduate Studies. Your student should send all official score reports directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions during the application process.

Temple also accepts dual-enrollment (courses taken at the college level while a student is in high school) credits for incoming students. Information about these credits can be accessed via the Transfer Equivalency Tool. These transcripts should be sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If your student is currently enrolled at Temple University as a returning student and wants to take courses elsewhere for credit, they should contact their advisor to begin the process.

Once the Office of Undergraduate Admissions receives your student’s AP/IB/A-level/dual-enrollment transcripts, these credits will be automatically applied to your student’s record. Fox Academic Advisors will be present at all new student orientation sessions to assist your student in translating these equivalencies and registering for courses.

The Fox School of Business offers study abroad programs for undergraduate students through partnerships with the American Business School in Paris; CEFAM in Lyon, France; and The Quinn School of Business, University College Dublin. In addition, Temple University’s Office of Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses administers programs at campuses in Rome and Japan, exchange programs in Hong Kong, Seoul, and Australia and more. If a whole semester abroad is not possible, your student may want to consider a Fox School of Business Global Immersion trip.

Temple University offers a number of financial aid and assistance options for eligible students, including scholarships, grants, loans and work-study programs. About 79% of first-year Temple students receive need-based financial aid and all students are automatically considered for academic scholarships. Student Financial Services provides information on all different financial aid types.

Temple University scholarships are awarded to exemplary students and are highly competitive due to limited funding. Scholarships are a form of gift aid that does not need to be repaid. They are available for incoming and continuing undergraduate students.

The Fox School of Business offers scholarships specifically for students enrolled in our programs. Most scholarships are open for application via the Academic Works portal during the spring semester.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects confidentiality of student educational records and prohibits the university and university officials from disclosing students’ educational records without students’ written consent.

We cannot share students’ educational records with parents or family members without the written consent of a student or without proof that the student is the tax dependent of the parent. If you want to communicate (including in-person communication, email, or phone call) with a university official about your student’s educational record, please check with your student to make sure you are on their FERPA contact list.

Effective Fall 2018, all Fox students are required to have their own laptop. Students with laptops can use wired and wireless connections in many classrooms and labs, as well as throughout the buildings. 

Additionally, Information Technology Services provides assistance for technology-related questions to the university community including tech support, equipment recommendations, computer recycling and cloud services. Students with IT problems can access the Help Desk remotely or stop by the desk at the TECH Center. Designed with a variety of workspaces to enable students to work collaboratively or individually, the TECH Center allows students to meet, study, collaborate and relax with a large student computer lab, thirteen breakout rooms, specialized printers, recording booths and multimedia studio.
