Lori Hermelin Bush
Having started in medical technology product development, Ms. Bush earned an MBA at the Fox School in 1985 in order to make a career pivot. It was at Fox that she learned project work, marketing, leadership, and how she could apply aspects of scientific design to business challenges. She later went on to become president of NuSkin and CEO of Rodan + Fields, guiding the skincare company to an annualized run rate of over $1B in revenue. She retired in 2016 to Sonoma, Calif., where she remains involved in corporate board and advisory work and, with her husband, owns a vineyard, Gremlin Vines, and a restaurant, Oso Sonoma.

Call for Submissions

The Lori Hermelin Bush Seed Fund supports ideas and models that advance women in entrepreneurship. The Fund provides seed funding ranging from $500-$10,000 based on defined needs and stage of the business venture. Funds are provided with the purpose of supporting companies in proving their concept, and where the money will have a significant impact on the company’s ability to progress. Ideas or ventures should be scalable, innovative, and further advance women in entrepreneurship (ex: has women founders or co-founders, impacts women in society, health, etc.).

Submission deadline: Wednesday, May 27th

Companies submitting to the Lori Hermelin Bush Seed Fund must be founded or led by a member of the Temple University community. The designated team leader must be a Temple University degree candidate (undergraduate or graduate), alumni, faculty, or staff. Companies may have additional team members without ties to Temple University, but the Temple-affiliated member must be part of the founding team and/or be a significant equity holder, if equity has been distributed.

Companies submitting to the Lori Hermelin Bush Seed Fund must be less than two years old as of April 30, 2020, and cannot have raised more than $10,000 from institutional funding (includes pitch competitions, angel investors, VCs, and/or accelerator/incubator programs), and must have gross sales less than $25,000 by April 30, 2020.

All submissions must be submitted into the WizeHive portal by 11:59pm.

Selected finalists will pitch on June 11th between Noon and 4:00pm.
