Join The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in a three-session webinar training and learn the necessary steps to start a home-based daycare enterprise. Each session builds upon the previous one so you can prepare a smooth transition to this exciting profession.
Planned topics include:
Session 1 – A discussion of the basics for starting a childcare-focused business. An experienced SBDC consultant will provide an overview of startup basics; legal and insurance considerations; goal-setting and business plan development; accounting and budget skills; effective marketing and social media; and financing options and requirements.
Session 2 – A walkthrough of the regulatory aspects of a licensed home-based daycare. A representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services will review building code compliance, background checks, necessary training, and the childcare subsidy program.
Session 3 – State Extension will map out the day-to-day operations of a daycare business, as well as provide timely information about social distancing and health and safety plans for children and their families.
The series will be delivered via Zoom webinar: Session 1 on Wednesday, August 19 at 10 am; Session 2 on Wednesday, August 26 at 10 am; and Session 3 on Wednesday, September 9 at 2 pm.
This series is free of charge, but advance registration is required. To provide the best experience, space is limited and classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve your seat, visit scrantonsbdc.edu or email Leigh.Fennie@scranton.edu for registration details.
