Law Week

The Legal Studies Department hosts Law Week every spring semester. The event series often focuses on controversial law and policy issues. Recent panelists have debated topics such as decriminalizing marijuana, the gig economy, and the Trump administration’s travel ban. It also honors prominent legal practitioners, designating them as “Law Scholars,” and brings them to campus to address student audiences—recent guests include Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Kevin Dougherty. Finally, dozens of law schools participate in the Law Fair to meet students who plan to attend law school, and a Naturalization Ceremony, where individuals are sworn in as new American citizens in the presence of their proud families.
