Kerry Slade is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic Management and the Assistant Academic Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute (“IEI”). Before joining Temple full time, Ms. Slade practiced law for ten years, specializing in commercial, employment and property litigation and arbitration. She served as an adjunct professor from 2016-2018. In 2018 she won the Crystal Apple award for excellence in teaching.
Ms. Slade teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on innovation management, creativity, entrepreneurship, international business, and business in emerging markets. Her research interests are frugal innovation, social entrepreneurship and business in Africa. She also supports entrepreneurs with advice on legal issues and through the IEI’s other programs. Ms. Slade is the founder of Slade Unlimited, LLC, an ethical fashion company that imports products from African countries and supports local producers.
Ms. Slade received a BA in Sociology from Brown University with honors, a JD from Northwestern University cum laude, and an MBA from Temple University concentrating in Strategic Management, with a Dean’s Certificate of Excellence. She lives in North Philadelphia with her son and dog, and enjoys hiking, camping, reading, cooking and crafts.
