ARE YOU AN INNOVATOR?
JOIN US FOR A FOOTBALL SAFETY HACKATHON EVENT
American football is growing in popularity worldwide, and with it, the number of injuries, especially injuries to the head, is drawing unprecedented attention. To further Temple University’s ongoing efforts regarding innovations in fan and player involvement in American football, the University is partnering with a leader in sports innovation, the HYPE Foundation, to conduct a pair of high-visibility events to complement the NFL draft to be held in late April in Philadelphia. The two days will focus largely on enhancing safety for football players, but other innovations in terms of: Fan Engagement, Smart Stadium, Performance & Analytics, Wearables, AR/VR, , etc. will also be welcomed.
An all-day Hackathon open to all Temple University students and interested faculty and staff will be held on April 25th, followed the next day by a Worldwide Pitch Competition, where 10 finalists from around the globe will present their football safety startups to investors, sports organizations, and HYPE Foundation partners such as Microsoft, Google, and Sky Team Sports. These events will be held just prior to the NFL draft, which is occurring in Philadelphia on April 27th-29th. Some of the media, sports companies and NFL team/league personnel attending the draft will be observing or involved in this HYPE-Temple initiative. The Worldwide Pitch competition will be webcast internationally, providing wide exposure for Temple University and the innovative companies presenting at the Pitch Competition.
