Three Fox School of Business undergraduate programs – Risk Management and Insurance, International Business, and Management Information Systems – rank among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News Media Group’s 2012 edition of Best Colleges.
The Fox School’s Risk Management and Insurance program ranks No. 6 in specialty rankings while Fox’s International Business program is No. 9. Fox’s Management Information Systems (MIS) program is No. 18 in the country.
Overall, the Fox School’s undergraduate business program is No. 55 in the nation, up 12 spots from 2011.
“The Fox School’s national and international reputation continues to rise, and rankings entities are not the only ones noticing,” Dean M. Moshe Porat said. “This year, we enrolled the second-largest freshman class in school history, and these freshmen bring with them record GPAs and SAT scores. I am proud to say that, even in times of economic challenge, students and their parents see us as providing a high return on their educational investment.”
The business school rankings in the 2012 edition of Best Colleges, released online Sept. 13 and available in print Sept. 20, were based on a peer assessment survey of deans and senior faculty at each AACSB-accredited undergraduate business program in the country. The same respondents were also asked to nominate the best specialty programs. Those with the most mentions in each area were ranked in descending order, according to U.S. News.
The Fox School’s Risk Management and Insurance program – one of the nation’s largest – features the premier Sigma Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma. For the past 11 years, the Fox student group has received the prestigious Edison L. Bowers award for best overall chapter of the international risk management and insurance fraternity.
Fox’s undergraduate International Business program benefits from a robust study abroad program through the school and Temple University, as well as from the Temple Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), one of only 33 such centers in the country. Temple CIBER is based at the Fox School.
The research output of faculty in Fox’s MIS Department was ranked No. 1 in the world for 2010, according to publications in the two top journals in information systems.
In all, Fox offers 13 undergraduate majors, cutting-edge technology in Alter Hall and premier student services, including a Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) that is regarded as one of the nation’s best. In 2010, 91 percent of graduating seniors who utilized CSPD’s services landed full-time jobs.
