Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration

A message from the Assistant Dean and Program Director

Welcome to the home page of the Fox Ph.D. in Business Administration. In January 2009 the Fox School doctoral program moved into the newly completed Alter Hall. Alter Hall provides a technologically advanced environment that fosters collaboration. The facility has been designed to accommodate doctoral programs with work areas in each department and centralized lounge and computer space. Collaboration spaces are present on every floor to allow for interaction and discussion among faculty and doctoral students. Our program focuses on effective mentorship and Alter Hall provides the perfect environment for it.

The Ph.D. in Business Administration program prepares you for advanced research and scholarship. The primary emphasis of our program is to prepare future faculty members for successful academic careers, although some of our alumni are employed in government, industry, and consulting. You will work with faculty who have national and international reputations in their fields of study. You will learn from the best!

A doctoral education is much more than anything you have experienced so far. Doctoral education is a truly transformative experience in which you will assume the responsibility of creating knowledge – not merely disseminating it. You will learn the art and science of research in your concentration and how to work in an interdisciplinary environment as you advance the state of knowledge of business, management, finance, accounting, marketing, information systems, strategy, tourism and risk management.

If you are seeking an interesting and challenging career in which you can have an impact on the world through your research and through your effect on students, consider a doctoral education in business. I invite you to look around and compare. Please be sure to visit our curriculum and faculty pages to learn about our programs and in particular our impressive faculty.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions about the program. You may also contact my Associate Director, Stefanie Vishab (vishab@temple.edu) or our concentration advisors and research faculty.

I wish you success in finding the doctoral program that is right for you.
