Vinod Venkatraman, PhD

Dr. Venkatraman is the Associate Director of Center for Neural Decision Making and Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, Fox School of Business. Vinod holds a PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience from Duke University. Prior to graduate school, Vinod worked as a Research Scientist at the
Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory in Singapore.

Vinod's primary research interest is in examining the processes and mechanisms underlying consumer decision making. Specifically, he is interested in studying the effect of decision context, age, state variables (such as emotions and sleep deprivation), and individual traits on decision-making strategies using a multi-methodological
approach that includes behavioral studies, eye tracking and neuroimaging. Vinod is also interested in characterizing individual differences in decision strategies and their impact on everyday consumer decision making.

Vinod's research has been published in several leading journals like Neuron, Journal of Neuroscience, Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, Sleep and Neuroimage. Vinod's research has also been featured in several leading newspapers around the world including BBC, Newsweek, Time magazine, LA Times and Business Week among others.

Sargent Shriver

Sarge is a PhD student in the Marketing Department at the Fox School of Business and member of the CNDM. He is using behavioral and neuroimaging methods to investigate how product information influences purchase decisions. This research has applications for brand management and advertising.

Sarge supervises the undergraduate research assistants in the lab, manages its day-to-day operations, leads a journal club that includes faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students in the departments of marketing, neuroscience, psychology, and economics, and was elected President of the Fox School of Business Doctoral Student Association. Before joining Fox he was a research assistant in a functional neuroimaging lab at Harvard Medical School and a neuroscience lab at MIT. He is the recipient of a Fox Young Scholars Award
