Dr. Hilal Atasoy joins the Fox School from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, where she recently earned her PhD and Master’s, served as a Research Assistant in the Regional Economic Applications Laboratory and was a highly ranked instructor.
Dr. Atasoy has four working research papers on topics such as firm IT use impacts on employment, workers’ use and knowledge of information technology and its effects on employment opportunities, and e-commerce impacts on firm performance. Her paper “The Effects of Broadband Internet Expansion on Labor Market Outcomes” is forthcoming in the Industrial and Labor Relations Review. She also has five papers in progress.
In the past two years, Dr. Atasoy has presented at 11 conferences and institutions, including the Public Economic Theory Meeting at Indiana University, the Conference on the Economics of Information and Communication Technologies in Paris, France, and the School of Labor and Employment Relationships at the University of Illinois. She has also won eight awards and honors, including NET Institute Research Grant and E.B. McNatt Award for Research in Labor Economics.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bogazici University, Turkey.
