Semester: Fall 2016 and Spring 2017

Hi Professor Kapanjie!
I just wanted to thank you for your help in my math courses my freshmen year of college. I always sat in the front row and enjoyed coming to class. The energy you created in the class made it fun and enjoyable to be there. I know it was a huge class, but you did make a difference in my college academic life. Math was always a difficult class for me until I came to Temple. The structure of your class taught me how to manage my time, and it helped me learn a tremendous about of math skills. I wish I could take you for my next Statistics class. Thank you for the impact you have had on me.

Semester: 2017 Spring

Dear Eric,

Thank you so much for providing this excellent course!
Your class is the best class I have ever had. Not only did I enjoy it a lot but also the knowledge, skills, and way of thinking you introduced to me were effectively applied to real world practices. I was also extremely impressed by your awareness about the diverse backgrounds of every individual in the class, such as cultural background, majors, working experience levels, even language mastery levels. Though these diversities are common in Temple, you are so empathetic and managed those differences perfectly.

I’m so glad and proud to have you be my professor! Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Class: Intro to Risk Management

Semester: Spring 17

I’d like to say thank you for this semester and the way you present your work. I went into Risk slightly worried due to my work ethic but specifically took your course because of good reviews and rumors of making me work. Your lectures were easy to stay attentive to and the material was informative and relative to real life situations. Although my grade in your course does not reflect myself as a top student due to outside circumstances, it has been my favorite and most educating class so far at Temple University. I look forward to changing my majors and dedicating the rest of my college career to the RMI field. The class has proved to me that not all school work has to be dreaded, and that although something may be tough, it is way more enjoyable when you actually like what you’re learning. If it weren’t for this class, I may still be stuck miserable in what I was originally pursuing. Thank you again, you’ve opened my eyes to the bigger picture and I am forever grateful.

Hi Professor Hagy,
Thank you for being one of the best professors I’ve had at Temple. Coming to your class was always something I’d look forward to, and you always managed to teach while keeping me entertained (something most professors don’t do). I learned a lot of valuable things in your class such as building a great company culture, competitive strategies, and analytical frameworks, all of which are vital in building a successful business. Given that I’m taking the non-traditional route after graduation of starting my own company, this class was very valuable to me in my last semester before stepping into the real world. Semester: 4

Hi Professor Sinha,
I wanted to thank you for being my favorite professor I’ve had during my undergraduate career at Temple. Your class was always engaging and interesting to me, and I’d look forward to coming to your class every week. During the semester I took your class, I learned so much and became more passionate about marketing than I ever had before. The most valuable thing I learned in your class, and maybe in all of college, is that understanding consumer behavior, and adapting to consumer trends and actions, is the key to a successful business. Over the past 2 years since taking your class, I realized that this is always true, and now that I plan on starting my own business. I hope to take the strategies I learned in your class and adapt them to the real world. Thank you for helping me realize what I’m passionate about, and for being a great professor! I hope we stay in touch.

Dear Dr. Soss,
Thank you for teaching me CFA Level 1, behavioral finance, and quantitative portfolios this semester! I truly appreciate your effort, though the content of PowerPoint you go through a little fast during the class. However, it really pushes me to study hard and learn more after class.
Also, you are a role model of mine. You successfully passed both FRM and CFA examinations and also got certificates. I will try my best to pass FRM before my graduation and to find any jobs associated with risk management after my graduation, because it must be certified by exams and two-year work experience. Stay hungry, stay foolish!
I want to thank you again for working hard!

It was a privilege to be part of all your classes and I can find how much useful the concepts are when I am preparing for FRM exam. Being not so well acquainted with these concepts it was initially difficult for me to understand, but with your classes and notes it became clear as I moved forward.
I would take this opportunity to Thank You for your time, and for giving me the opportunity to be part of such an excellent program. Also I am highly grateful as you gave me the responsibility to work with you, and help myself with my living expenses.
Look forward for a great new academic year in August.

Teresa Cirillo

Class: Business Communications 2196

Semester: Spring 2016

I wish I had known Thank You Professor was a thing a year ago. Professor Cirillo is by far one of the greatest professors I have ever learned from at Temple. Bus Comm is a very tough class and I was aware of that coming into the class. Professor Cirillo really pushes her students to do well and I saw that. I was never a good writer but Cirillo changed that. I learned so many new strategies on my writing habits and how to approach my cover letters/resume. In addition, my public speaking definitely improved as well. When I received a good grade in class and really felt great about it because I know how hard I had to work to earn it. Bus Comm was one of my least interested classes before taking it as a person that does not like to write, but after this semester I have to admit it was definitely one of my favorites, and most memorable, thanks to Professor Cirillo.

- Jeevan Jaganath

Cheng (Jason) Jiang

Class: Financial Management

Semester: Spring 2017

Temple should be very lucky to have a professor like Professor Jiang. He is by far one of the smartest, hard working, nicest, and greatest professors I have ever had the pleasure learning from. Finance is not an easy subject. Professor Jiang provided us with notes and detailed examples to understand the material. He also provided outside resources out of class like his WebEx Videos, which showed us step by step solutions on how to do complex problems. I’ve talked to other students who took Finance 3101 and are struggling but Jiang makes it much more understandable with his teaching ethics. If I was a Finance major, Professor Jiang would be the professor I would try to take for every required class. All around great guy and instructor.

Thank you for truly caring about me and making time to sculpt me into the person I am today. We will most definitely keep in touch as I begin my descent into the "real world".

Stuart Schmidt

Class: Business ethics

Semester: spring 2016

Professor Schmidt is one of my favorite professors. If I have to use one word to describe his course, I will use awesome! He is very helpful and patient with our questions. Also, he is encourages us to think in a comprehensive and in-depth way. He can always enlighten me when I go to his office hours. The important most thing I want to say is thank you and that I am not afraid of writing papers with his help. I have gained more confidence through taking his classes. Thank you so much for everything Professor Schmidt.

Robert Pred

Class: Honors Statistics

Semester: Fall 2015

Dr.Pred, you are one of the best professors at Fox. Statistics isn’t a field I had any experience in, but you explained concepts slowly and thoroughly. You helped the class every time we needed it and gave us in class practice. You made the class feel like a family with how you took a moment to talk to every student and learn all of our names. In short, thank you.

Daniel Isaacs

Class: LGLS 5701

Semester: Jan 2016

I really enjoyed your class. It was very eye opening for me. I brought a lot of the topics into work the next day. I had people excited to ask me how my class went because they wanted to know the "life decisions" I had made the night before and how they affected the real world. I thought talking about who would die in certain scenarios and how the future of technology and cars will have to make those decisions of what is morally/ethically the best decision. I really got a lot of people to think differently just because you challenged me to think differently. I feel there are many topics I have had since that class where I will ask a room, "do you think that is ethical?" Topics such as how smartphones can track you and how face recognition can track you etc. Anyway, I just want to say, your class has been by far my favorite class. Your lectures were terrific (even if they were recorded by other instructors), your classes were very engaging, and your curriculum has really been used in my real life. Thank you for taking the extra time to plan your discussions and add dialogue at the beginning of class. That was a neat way to conduct class. Lastly, I did take your advice for futureme.org, and I am excited to get those notes in my future. Anyway, keep up the good work!!!! Have a great day!!!

Anthony Seeton

Class: Honors Global Business Policies

Semester: Spring 2016

Professor Seeton,
You are one of the toughest professors I have had here at Temple. I spent many days and nights preparing for your assignments to make sure they match your requirements. You are demanding and do not settle for mediocre work. I was a little concerned to take your class after reading your online reviews, however, you are the kind of a professor who raises the bar substantially and your high standards showed that you are preparing business people, not just college students. You impressed me with your professionalism and effective teaching methods.
I will take the knowledge that you provided to me throughout the rest of my business live. Thank you very much for the opportunity. I most definitely enjoyed the ride.

Dear Professor/Dr. Wilcox,
I would like to thank you for your time spent on paving a brighter path for me within the market outside of the USA. All this will come in handy as I proceed through my future. I enjoy your class and I would like to take a brief moment and say Merci,

Martin Doyle

Professor Doyle,

I’ve learned a great deal in both MIS 2501 as well as MIS 3535. You restored confidence in my writing abilities and taught me that uncertainty is a necessary part of growing up and learning. "It Depends" has become my go-to response to difficult questions with many unclear answers. Despite all your successes, you taught us the importance of failure and to never forget who we truly are as individuals.

Thank you for being an outstanding professor, a great role model and an all around cool guy. The future Temple Owls will be very fortunate to have you as professor.

- Alexander Korjeski

Katherine Nelson

Hi Kate!
I just want to thank you for a fantastic HRM 1101 Class during the Fall 2015 semester. As a freshman I’ve dreamed of being in the HR field and your class only cemented that dream even more. Your class encouraged me to reach out and meet people and go to networking events. With that, I met Gregory Bogart, an internal sales manager at Lincoln Financial. After being invited to visit and meeting the corporate team in Radnor they left me with a, "if you ever need anything, just let us know". If that isn’t a sure-fire way to keep me, a freshman, motivated in accomplishing my goals I don’t know what is. I hope everything is going well with you! I’d love to stop by and catch with you. You can contact me at tug11405@temple.edu or my personal email lewis.larry331@gmail.com. Thanks Again! Hope to see you soon.

Dr. Wurst is an amazing teacher who will take your unlimited questions to make sure you get the material and all concepts are clear. Thank you so much for taking my never ending questions and your positive attitude allowed me to learn effectively and ask questions without any hesitation. I absolutely loved the Accounting course but the credit goes to him and the efforts he put in designing and structuring this course. He was one of the few teachers who could take any difficult concept and simplify it in a few words through great practical examples. His videos were, and are still so useful, and helped me in other subsequent courses. I still refer back to his videos to understand different accounting concepts for other classes. He also managed Webex classes between course material and professor-student relationship building very well. All your help and willingness to address our concerns throughout the accounting class is really appreciated.

As a Professor, you set the foundation for students to develop and/or enhance skills needed for leadership. During a difficult time of my life, while dealing with different personality traits and characteristics of fellow students, your genuine support and teaching abilities gave me the strength to keep pushing. A person may be extremely knowledgeable, but if he/she lack true leadership skills that are essential across a wide spectrum of roles, it means little. I sincerely appreciate your proficient teaching style. Keep up the good work!!!

Bruce Rader

Class: Derrivatives

Semester: 2014 Fall

Your class was one of my all-time favorite classes here at Temple. I enjoyed coming in to class everyday because I knew I’d be challenged, and would have a blast slamming my head against the table until my eventual epiphany. Although many students were intimidated and dropped your class after the first session, I’m glad I was one of the few people who stuck around. One of the most important lessons you’ve taught me is the importance of having discipline and also the need to actually think for yourself. Thank you Professor.

You’re the man Mr. B!

- Aboubacar Traore

Yuanzhi (Lily) Li

Class: Investments

Semester: 2014 Fall

Thanks for everything!

Sheri Risler

Class: Auditing

Semester: Spring 2014

Dear Professor Risler,

I am writing this email to thank you for how much knowledge I learned from you either in Auditing or from the overall standpoint of Accounting in the Fox School of Business. I am currently working in Assurance sector in EY Kuwait for two months so far and I feel relaxed, happy, and learning so much from an assurance standpoint and accounting as well. I feel great getting that knowledge from the accounting department in Fox School and in your auditing class. I am also currently studying for the CPA exam, and hopefully sitting down in the summer to do the FAR and AUD. I would like to thank you again in believing in me and helping me get into the MAcc program. Thank you again for your time and wish you the very best.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Shafer

Class: Data Centric Application Development

Semester: Spring 2015

I didn’t know MySQL or PHP before taking MIS2502 and MIS3501. I was excited to take those classes because I knew that it’s good to have those skills on my resume and that employers look for candidates that know how to program and how to work with databases. It’s amazing how much information is packed into those classes! You not only learn a new programming language, but you also learn how to apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios. Class lectures and tech challenges were particularly helpful (I with they were required so nobody falls behind). Looking forward to take MIS3502 next semester!

Dear Prof. Hochner,

Thank you for a great semester. I feel I learned a lot that could be applied immediately. The final paper also gave me an opportunity to reflect on my job transition and analyze it sans emotion. Thanks again for a wonderful class and a great semester.

Professor Nelson, it was a great semester. First I would like to say, thank you for allowing me to enroll in your class. If it was not for you to sign my green card on day one, I would not be able to switch my major to HRM and let alone meet so many wonderful people.

I really enjoyed your leadership class and it allowed me to understand more about myself. It taught me the importance of culture, value and emotional intelligence in a person. I never thought that those three were significant especially in the work place.

I also enjoyed your information interview assignment the most. Even after class, I am participating in various information interviews to learn more about the company and its potential HR positions.

Thank you for everything Professor, I hope we stay in touch!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Professor Casper,
It’s not often that students are lucky enough to get teachers who genuinely care about the subject they teach and the students they are teaching to. You are one of few teachers I’ve had over the years who has made me truly want to accomplish more than just surviving a class; you pushed us all to understand what we were learning and how to apply it. You took the time to go over everything we needed to know as students, and even things that would help as understand the world as adults. Corporate finance was a challenging class, but I looked forward to it because I knew I would leave having learned something new and interesting every time. Thank you for going above and beyond as a teacher and for making a difficult class enjoyable. I would recommend you as a teacher to anyone who needs to take a finance course in the future. Thank you.

Kathleen Davis

Class: Business, Society & Ethics Online

Semester: Fall 2014

Throughout the semester you have provided me with a wealth of knowledge and have taken the time to speak with me about certain issues that I will be forever grateful for. Through your teachings in class I have learned so much about ethics, society and our government and this has truly sparked my interest in other issues the world is facing. Furthermore, I find that you are a strong and educated woman that I can look up to and look to for advice and inspiration. What I enjoyed most about your teaching style is the way you brought current or even past issues to light and made them come to life, so to speak. The education you provided didn’t end in class, as you continuously provided our class and myself personally with current event articles that you believed we should be informed about and would enjoy. And I certainly have. I can honestly say, without a doubt, you can and should be looked to as a role model for women who are trying to or have a career in business. I just want to thank you for all the support, knowledge, and insight you have provided. But mostly I would like to thank you for teaching me to look at the world from a different perspective. Through you I have found it is okay to question and ask questions regardless of the subject matter!! You are an excellent teacher in more ways than one and I wish you nothing but the best. I say these things sincerely and with absolute respect.

Semester: Fall 2014

Thanks a lot for a great semester. I really learned a lot in your class about being a leader and what it is going to take to reach my goals. Having already taken on a leadership position in my father’s trash hauling and recycling company, David Geppert Recycling Inc., the skills I took away from your class have already made an incredible difference. I was also one of the two students picked to stand up and talk about what we would say to family over Thanksgiving and even though I was very nervous and initially mad that I was the one to get picked, that really helped me jump over the gap of timidness when public speaking. So thank you and I hope to stay in touch.

Jayanthi Krishnan

Class: Financial Accounting

Semester: Fall 2013

Dear Dr. Krishnan,

My current career has been revolving around science and symbols of the periodic table. "C" for Carbon, "H" for Hydrogen, jumbled them around, you get a chemical, and from that the chemical becomes a drug then you get a dose and its effect.

Needless to say, accounting is as far as one can be from the world of science. When I heard the words like Debit, Credit, Accounts Payable, and what goes on left side, right side, subtract them and add them and all ends up balancing out to A = L + SE, my head was spinning in speed that can be only performed by a centrifuge.

Out of this confusion, with help from your expertise, and excellent teaching, not only I only enjoyed every class, but walked out after it knowing that I have accomplished something.

I have been taking a lot of classes in long academic career. But, this is the first time I can say that "My brain was thoroughly stimulated." Thank you very much for your passion you brought in every class. I truly appreciate it, and I hope see you again in my current MBA career. Thank you.

Jean Wilcox

Class: International Marketing

Semester: Fall

Professor Wilcox,
When I found out I had you for two classes in one semester, I got a little nervous. I thought to myself that "this could either go really well, or not good at all"

Now that the semester is over, I couldnt be more grateful for such an amazing learning experience. You are truly a master of your trade and I want to sincerely thank you for everything you have done for me.

In international marketing, you opened up my eyes to the endless opportunities that exist overseas, and that each country has different values that every marketer must take into account. The Jones Soda project was very informative and helpful.

The class that had a HUGE impact on me was Entrepreneurial marketing. I am so grateful for the opportunity you gave me to make a difference and help out an amazing charity. This had to have been one of the most practical classes I have ever taken. I am so proud to a part of a project that helped raise over $100,000 in donations.

You are a truly a superstar and everyone in the Fox Community can learn from you. I consider myself blessed to have been enrolled in TWO of your classes this semester

I hope you have a great holiday, and please keep in touch

John McClendon

Class: Intro: HRM Mgmt

Semester: Fall 2013

Dear Dr. McClendon,

Thank you for going above and beyond in your teachings. You brought a massive amount of energy to the classroom and strived to get students involved. Your expectations were reasonable: by not expecting too much, students did not feel discouraged and give up; by not expecting too little, students took the class seriously and were able to learn a great deal. There is no doubt that you were, "the strategic driver" of the classroom culture. The way you drove the classroom culture was perfectly in line with one of the fundamental lessons you taught during the course: the importance of strategic drive in leading a company. By incorporating this drive into your teaching style, you led a very successful course.

Thank you again, and to answer your question: Yes, this is great stuff!

Darin Kapanjie

Class: Pre-Calculus for Business 1001

Semester: Fall

Prof. Kapanjie,
I just wanted to thank you for an amazing semester within your class. Coming into your class I thought that this would be my hardest course of the semester (since I had no interest in math at all.) You helped show me that if you take everything (especially math) step by step, you can conquer almost anything you put effort into. You kept the course fun, interesting, and were always there to greet the class with a smile. You also have great taste in music, if I do say so myself. (Maybe think about putting a playlist up on Edmodo or blackboard or something). I hope you have a great holiday season and I cannot wait until next semester when I get to take another course of yours (Calculus for Business 1102). It is refreshing to see a teacher who cares about their students within Temple University.

Thank you for all you do. I hope this shows that all your effort put forth in this class did not go to waste,
