CEO/Executive Director of Non-Profit Responsibilities

  • Identify and select a mentor from the board of directors for the Fellow. The mentor should be a current member of the board of directors.
  • Identify, in association with the Fellow and the mentor, a project or projects related to the work of the board, in which the Fellow can actively and productively participate.
  • Provide the Fellow an orientation to the nonprofit, nonprofit staff and its board of directors.
  • Send the Fellow’s resume and description of the Board Fellows Program to the board prior to the Fellow’s first board meeting.
  • Put the Fellow on the board mailing list so he/she receives board materials and notices in advance of the board meetings and invitations to special events at the nonprofit.
  • Participate in the FBF kickoff event in the fall.
  • Attend the Orientation to the Fox Board Fellow Program.
  • Complete evaluations (mid-year and end-of-year) sent by Fox Board Fellows.

Board Mentors Responsibilities

  • Help orient the Fellow to board members and unique board and committee structures and practices.
  • Meet on a mutually agreeable, regular basis with the Fellow to provide guidance and support.
  • Help insure that the Fellow’s project work contributes to on-going needs of committee/board.
  • Participate in the FBF kickoff event in the fall.
  • Attend the Orientation to the Fox Board Fellow Program.
  • Complete evaluations (mid-year and end of year) sent by Fox Board Fellows.

TIMELINE

  • January – March: Contact program to inquire about partnership; however, inquires accepted throughout the year
  • April: Interview prospective Fox Board Fellow
  • May: Final placement is made
  • June – August: Facilitate soft onboarding for Fellow
  • September: Attend Kick-Off Breakfast
  • September – October: Facilitate on-boarding, assign board mentor, work with fellow to define and develop project scope
  • December: Provide interim feedback on Fellowship engagement
  • January – April: Support Fellow engagement, participate in Fellow’s 360, attend closing breakfast
