Temple Again Ranked Tops in Entrepreneurship by Entrepreneur Magazine
For the fifth straight year, Temple has been ranked among the nation’s best for entrepreneurship programs by Entrepreneur magazine and the Princeton Review. Temple was ranked sixth for its undergraduate programs and 11th for its graduate programs in the magazine’s 6th annual “Top 50 Entrepreneurial Colleges.” Temple improved its rankings slightly from the previous year. The rankings were released September 9, 2008.
Over 2,300 undergraduate and graduate schools were solicited via surveys by The Princeton Review, a leading provider of educational services. The survey, comprehensive in scope, focused on information in three areas: academics and requirements, students and faculty (including how many are entrepreneurs) and activities and programs occurring outside the classroom.
Entrepreneur magazine’s website, entrepreneur.com, highlighted several areas of Temple’s program including a focus on entrepreneurship interwoven with a mission for urban renewal and economic development; its Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures program – the Mid-Atlantic region’s only year ‘round venture forum program – which assists early stage technology and science companies in securing first or second rounds of angel funding; Temple’s Small Business Development Center; the University's lead role in BioLaunch 611+, a Pennsylvania Keystone Innovation Zone program; the Temple University Council on Entrepreneurship comprised of representatives from all 17 schools and colleges within the University; and several novel competitions focused on entrepreneurship.
In the ’07 – ’08 academic year, Temple was also the only college or university in the Philadelphia regional area ranked tops by three different ranking entities: Fortune Small Business magazine, Entrepreneur magazine and U.S. News and World Report.
Business Plan Winner and Temple Alumna Karen Moustafellos Gains Acclaim for her Architecturally Inspired Jewlery in Philadelphia Magazine
James and Karen Moustafellos may design and handcraft their simple but striking jewelry in a Philadelphia studio, but their sculptural wears evoke the aesthetic of European design. The husband-and-wife duo are trained architects, but three years ago, after James enrolled in a jewelry and metalsmithing class at UArts, they launched Elements and Alloys, their own luxury jewelry line.
Temple Entrepreneurship Alumna Rebecca Davis Witnesses the Healing Power of Dance in Rwanda
The contemporary Philadelphia choreographer Rebecca Davis recently spent four weeks teaching dance steps to street orphans in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, a suffering land known mostly for its 1994 genocide. To her surprise, she discovered a passion for dance that transcends anything found among American teenagers. “These kids taught me that dance has the power to change lives even in the most difficult of circumstances,” she contends.
Be Your Own Boss Bowl Grand Prize Winner Brian Linton Featured in Cape Cod Times Article

Going to college was not an easy move for Brian Linton.
After bouncing between Hyannis, Singapore and Japan — his father worked for an international electronics company — Linton knew more about Asia and global business than America and dorm life. For Linton, Calvin College, in Grand Rapids, Mich., was a foreign world.
To get his mind off the change, Linton started Sand Shack, a line of jewelry and beachwear, and spent the summer marketing it to stores around the Cape. Two years later, he says the company's total assets approach $100,000.
Sand Shack's evolution is the story of a small business connecting with foreign markets in tourist season. But it is also the story of how a college student found a place for himself where those worlds intersect.
Temple University only area university ranked in entrepreneurship in the U.S. by three different ranking entities
This fall, Temple University was the only area university ranked among top entrepreneurship programs for undergraduates in the United States by three separate ranking entities: Fortune Small Business magazine, Entrepreneur magazine with the Princeton Review, and U.S. News & World Report. Temple’s graduate entrepreneurship programs also ranked high.
Temple University was ranked eighth for undergraduate programs and 12th for graduate programs by Entrepreneur magazine and the Princeton Review following a survey of more than 900 schools across the United States.
