Temple Again Ranked Tops in Entrepreneurship by Entrepreneur Magazine
For the fifth straight year, Temple has been ranked among the nation’s best for entrepreneurship programs by Entrepreneur magazine and the Princeton Review. Temple was ranked sixth for its undergraduate programs and 11th for its graduate programs in the magazine’s 6th annual “Top 50 Entrepreneurial Colleges.” Temple improved its rankings slightly from the previous year. The rankings were released September 9, 2008.
Over 2,300 undergraduate and graduate schools were solicited via surveys by The Princeton Review, a leading provider of educational services. The survey, comprehensive in scope, focused on information in three areas: academics and requirements, students and faculty (including how many are entrepreneurs) and activities and programs occurring outside the classroom.
Entrepreneur magazine’s
website, entrepreneur.com, highlighted several areas
of
Temple’s program including a focus on entrepreneurship interwoven
with a mission for urban renewal and economic development; its Mid-Atlantic
Diamond Ventures program – the Mid-Atlantic region’s only year ‘round
venture forum program – which assists early stage technology and
science companies in securing first or second rounds of angel funding;
Temple’s Small Business Development Center; the University's lead
role in BioLaunch 611+, a Pennsylvania Keystone Innovation Zone program;
the Temple University Council on Entrepreneurship comprised of representatives
from all 17 schools and colleges within the University; and several novel
competitions focused on entrepreneurship.
In the ’07 – ’08 academic year, Temple was also the only college or university in the Philadelphia regional area ranked tops by three different ranking entities: Fortune Small Business magazine, Entrepreneur magazine and U.S. News and World Report.
