Innovation & Entrepreneurship Institute
Jaine Lucas is the executive director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute (IEI), a top ten nationally ranked entrepreneurship program by Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine. She also serves as executive director of Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures, a premier entrepreneurship advisory and venture forum program which has coached and presented over 300 emerging innovation-based firms for Series A investment, and the soon-to-open Blackstone LaunchPad at Temple University. She is an entrepreneur and has also worked for and with start-ups and Fortune 1000 companies across many industries in strategic, creative and general management roles.
At Temple, Jaine’s areas of expertise in the entrepreneurship space include ideation, strategy, business planning and funding of start-ups ventures, and she speaks frequently on these topics. She has been quoted extensively in the press, including PBS, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Business Journal, Executive Leaders Radio, MedCity News and others.
Prior to Temple, Jaine founded and provided strategic marketing and operations leadership for a start-up specialty apparel company targeting female sports fans. At Sunoco, a Fortune 50 company, she led brand management for the Retail Marketing division (over 4,500 gasoline and 800 convenience stores), including launching and managing the company’s NASCAR sponsorship. Jaine also managed brand marketing and communications, credit card sales, customer service, and directed the operations of the Sunoco private label credit card center. She was global communications leader with GE Plastics where she championed external and internal communications. In the 1990s, she developed and operated an award-winning boutique marketing firm, Lucas & Partners, built on a novel business model. Her prior agency experience includes The Weightman Group (Philadelphia) and a division of Chiat Day (New York) where she developed integrated marketing programs for large national B2B clients. Her agency work earned numerous awards for creativity and effectiveness from the NY One Club of Advertising, Addys, BMA Bell Ringers, Art Director’s Club of Philadelphia, Most Memorable Ads and Readex.
Jaine holds a MS in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) and graduated summa cum laude and with University Honors in Chemistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Jaine is active in the community and was appointed by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter to the 2012-2013 Jobs Commission. She is a member of the board of directors for Ulysses Venture Partners (NYC), the Entrepreneurs Forum of Greater Philadelphia, the Philadelphia-Israel Chamber of Commerce, the Visiting Nurse Association of Philadelphia and Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures (executive committee); and is a member of the University City Science Center Community Charter Committee. She is an advisory board member for the Fox School of Business’ MBA and iMBA Consulting Practicums, and a co-chair of Temple’s League for Entrepreneurial Women. She is a member and Ambassador of the Union League of Philadelphia, and a member of the Forum of Executive Women, the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group, and the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE). She is a passionate advocate for those with autism and their families, and served as a member of the board of the Center for Autistic Children for over 13 years.
