The Post-9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to eligible veterans. Veterans with 36 months of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001 are eligible for 100% tuition coverage.
In-state residents eligible under the Post-9/11 GI Bill receive 100% tuition coverage when attending a public college or university.
The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program) is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This provision assists eligible veterans in attending public colleges or universities outside of their state of residence.
The Yellow Ribbon program allows degree granting colleges and universities in the United States to fund additional tuition expenses for out-of-state residents that exceed the institution’s highest public in-state tuition rate above and beyond the amount of tuition covered by the VA. The college or university contributes up to 50% of the tuition above and beyond its highest public in-state tuition rate. The remaining 50% of the tuition above the college or university’s highest public in-state tuition rate will be contributed by the VA.
All eligible veterans must apply for benefits through the Office of the University Registrar when they are admitted to the University and again at the beginning of each subsequent semester. This office verifies enrollment for all V.A. programs.
If you need more information, please call the Veterans Certification Officer in the Office of the University Registrar at 215.204.7378.
