While trained as a labor economist, Michael Leeds is best known for his teaching and research in sports economics. His research has appeared in such journals as Contemporary Economic Policy, Economic Inquiry, and The Journal of Sports Economics. Along with Peter von Allmen (a Temple Ph.D.), he is coauthor of The Economics of Sports and a principles of economics textbook. His recent research includes work on how participation in athletics affects the accumulation of human capital and on the economic value of naming rights purchases. From 1994-2006 Mike served as Director of the Honors Program in the Fox School of Business. He is currently an assistant dean at Temple University’s Japan Campus.
