Edward Rosenthal knows that busy professionals have a lot of choices when it comes to picking an MBA program. In fact, he understands choice more than most people.
In 2005, MIT published Dr. Rosenthal’s first book, The Era of Choice: The Ability to Choose and its Transformation of Contemporary Life. The book focused on how the explosion of choices that people in the developed world now face has impacted their daily lives and influenced society and cultural output.
A member of the Fox School faculty since 1985, Dr. Rosenthal is a recipient of the Temple University Great Teacher Award and the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching.
Dr. Rosenthal’s research interests are wide-ranging. Much of his work has been in the overlap between cooperative game theory and discrete optimization, but he has also made contributions to the fields of non-cooperative game theory and supply chain management. Most recently, he has been interested in behavioral decision theory and, more broadly, the conflict between “rational” and emotional decision making. His articles have appeared in a number of journals, including International Journal of Game Theory, Journal of Public Economics, European Journal of Operational Research, Games and Economic Behavior, The Energy Journal, Theory and Decision, Social Networks, and Decision Sciences.
Dr. Rosenthal earned his bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Albany and his master’s and doctoral degrees in industrial engineering and management sciences from Northwestern University.
