When it comes to the classroom experience, Lalitha Naveen has high expectations for both herself and her students.
“I believe that an effective teacher should facilitate a good understanding of the subject matter and promote critical thinking,” says Dr. Naveen. “It’s not enough for my students to know how to address a problem at hand, they need to develop their intuition so that they can apply their knowledge to other situations and promote life-long learning.”
Dr. Naveen’s unwavering pursuit of knowledge in her own life extends beyond the classroom to her research activities. A member of the Fox School faculty since 2007, Dr. Naveen’s research has been published in top finance and accounting journals and has earned her a number of awards and recognitions. She was named a Deaver Research Fellow in 2009 and was named to the Dean’s Research Honor Roll for 2007 – 2008. Her paper, “Co-Opted Boards: Causes and Consequences,” earned the Best Paper Award at the 2008 Conference for Corporate Governance and Fraud Prevention.
In addition to her academic experience, Dr. Naveen has held positions with a number of overseas firms providing expertise in equity research, project advisement and financial and equity analysis. Dr. Naveen earned her Ph.D. in finance from Arizona State University, her MBA in finance from Bharathidasan Institute of Management in India, and her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Anna University, India.
